On February 3, 2024 Harbin ITU Winter Triathlon World Cup starts with gunshots at the Sun Island Snow Expo scenic area, and the registration process for this event will also officially start in the near future.

Recently, the official website of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) announced that Harbin has obtained the right to host the 2024 ITU Winter Triathlon World Cup. According to relevant sources, the cities participating in this bid also included Italy's Asiago and Romania's Bran Castle. After ITU evaluated the natural and geographical conditions, economic and social conditions, competition objectives, and experience of the bidding cities, Harbin ultimately stood out among the three cities and won the right to host the competition.

This is the second time that the ITU Winter Triathlon World Cup has settled in Harbin. In January 2020, Harbin became the first Asian city to host this event and presented a "Grand, Warm, Exciting, and Complete" winter sports feast to audiences from all over the world. It received widespread praise from athletes and international friends, as well as high praise from the China Triathlon Sports Association and ITU.

In that competition, about 300 contestants from more than 20 countries and regions including Russia, Italy, Japan, and more than 10 provinces (regions, cities) in China entered for a competition.

As the birthplace of Chinese ice and snow sports, the city of Olympic champions, and the capital of ice and snow culture, Harbin will once again become the host of the ITU Winter Triathlon World Cup in the context of the national and even global attention and pursuit of ice and snow tourism in the city this winter.

According to the relevant person in charge of the organizing committee, the entire city of Harbin is now actively preparing for the 9th Asian Winter Games and the Winter Triathlon World Cup, which not only serves as a gift from sports talents in the Ice City to wish the successful hosting of the Asian Winter Games, but also plays a positive role in building Harbin into the "City of Ice and Snow Culture", developing winter triathlon, and creating the China Shanghai Cooperation Organization Ice and Snow Sports Demonstration Zone&Core Area of Harbin.
